Educating the public about the advantages of universal healthcare utilizing a single payer financing mechanism is key to the single payer legislative campaign. Single payer is identical to public healthcare insurance. Our health care system is complex and bewildering. It takes time to become fully informed on how to achieve universal health care at reasonable cost in California. Legislative analysis is important to a solid understanding about the issues of healthcare financing and the different kinds of approaches to healthcare administration. We seek funds to cover this research. HCA-CA Education Fund plans to hold organized public forums throughout the state, which would provide factual information related to the current state of health care coverage in California and which would prompt public discussion and input as to how to improve access to health care services for the population, many of whom are currently uninsured.
